I look up 

the meaning

why the writer 

wrote them

in the first place 

I wonder 

why words 

touch my heart

I love poetry 

and writing

I’ve always 

been that way

I believe words 

are quite powerful

they can soften 

the hardest heart

as well as

cut to the core

to me

can reach 

into the depths 

of a persons soul 

where nothing else 

can enter in

 We rolled well, 

you and I.  

You would say 

that looks like blood on the ground, 

I’d say,

it’s probably ketchup. You always wanted to solve a mystery, 

I wanted to make one. You should’ve been a detective, 

I should have been a criminal. 

You made jokes and wore silly masks, 

I dressed professional and wore the business face.

All the kids all loved you, 

You made them laugh.

They came to me for food, 

When they were hungry. 

Yes, 

you and I rolled well, 

we complimented each other beautifully. 

I wish we could still roll together,
