Psalm 73:25 :Whom have I in Heaven but You? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail and my spirit grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever."
Faith gives us the ability to believe we will see our loved ones again, once they've passed. Faith gives us the strength to go on after our losses, knowing that one day we will see our precious ones again. Faith is all many have to make it through this life of trials and tribulations.Faith in our Maker and all His promises, is an amazing comfort, our ongoing strength.
The Bible says "Whom have I in Heaven but You (God)? He was and is and is to come. He is the Alpha, the Omega; the Beginning and the End. His reign will never die; it goes on forever. He has promised all Christians (those who believe and follow His Word), eternal life, one that will never end. Though our bodies may fail and we go to the grave, our spirits will worship Him in Heaven. If it happens the moment I take my last breath or on the great and glorious day He comes to redeem His Bride, I'm okay. All I know is, Iwant to be one of the many who live with and worship Him forever.
Thank you for opening my blog and actually reading it! I love what I do and that is write. My prayer is that whoever opens and reads the words on these pages, will be blessed, changed, and inspired.

Beautiful Memories Will Be Cherished Forever
Thanksgiving was wonderful! We spent the week with our Soldier Clay and our daughter Marissa in the states of South Carolina and Georgia. The weather was nice and cold, and our together time was warm and beautiful. It had been ten weeks since we’d seen Clay and what joy it was Beautiful memories will be cherished forever
to see him in uniform! Unfortunately, our other 2 sons were unable to make the trip, but I’m finding that as we age, (gracefully of course) our times with our adult children are becoming fewer and farther between; something I am having a very difficult time with. I guess I know now how my parents felt when all of us left the nest.
While Thanksgiving was great, for me December came with a bomb, one that I wish I could send back. My mother, who was a young 73 years of age, has left earth and is now dancing with her Maker, a joyful time for her but not so joyful for all of us.
Mother loved flowers! She had gardens as long as I can remember! She never failed to pick or buy flowers to set on the kitchen table. Orchids and yellow roses were probably her favorite, although any bunch would do. She loved them all. Gerber daisies, geraniums, Chrysanthemums, it didn’t matter. Walk into the room with flowers in hand and her face lit up like a Christmas tree, no kidding! It never failed, every time we’d travel up north, my dad would faithfully stop on the side of the road so she could pick some flowers for the car. Then when we returned home, she would dry and plant them in one of her many gardens.
Mom was unique. She in her own way loved us very much. She always took great care of us and that was a huge job. With six kids, (five of which were girls) along with my dad, she had her hands full. We never lacked a thing. She was a true example of a dedicated mother and a wife. Our house was immaculate. Never would you see a spot on the floor or fuzz on the carpet. Our clothes were always clean and meals were on the table. Every day she’d drive us to school and be there waiting for us when the bell rang.
When we were sick, she nursed us back to health with homemade chicken soup, children’s Bayer aspirin (cherry flavor, it was like candy to me) and lots of love. Many times she’d be sick herself, but she kept going! She was a fighter! She never gave up! She was strong, mighty and stood her ground. Nothing ever got in her way. She carried on till the end. Her four foot nine frame was all powerful and immovable. She knew what she wanted and believed in and never backed down. She was a woman of character and determination. At times she came off hard but deep down she was a softy. Her love for her family was immeasurable and we all knew it.
As I age I see a lot of her in me and I am proud to be called my mother’s daughter! She will always be my mother and I will never forget the many blessings she has brought into my life. It wasn’t until I had children myself, that I realized who she really was and what she stood for. It was then that I understood that being a mom takes a lot of work, discipline and love.
As children most of us probably thought our parents were mean and tough, but as we’ve grown older, we now realize it was for our own good. As we flip through the chapters of our life, we see that life really wasn’t so bad back then. As we age and our parents move on, deep down we become more aware of their great love for us. Deep down we realize that they, just like Christ, many times have laid down their own lives for our well-being.
“Greater love has no one than this that He lay down his life for his friends.”
John 15:13 NIV
I didn’t get to tell her before she left how much I truly loved, appreciated and believed in her, but somehow I think she knew. She has and always will be one of the most beautiful women in the world to me (next to my own Marissa). I have been highly blessed with an amazing mother who taught me many great things. Even though she is gone from here, she left behind an array of beautiful memories that will be cherished forever. We will never forget her. We love you ma, and always will!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Giving thanks is far better than grumbling to get your way
“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord…” (Psalm 92:1)
Scripture states it, but we fail to do it. Why? Why is it that we concentrate more on negative issues than we do the positive? We are seeing this in our economy. We saw it in the election. And unfortunately, we see it in our families. Everywhere we turn, be it television, radio, even print, the concentration is on the negative. Negative news sells. It’s a known fact. It makes me sad to see the discontentment in our world. This attitude that says “it’s never good enough” has got to go.
The Bible says: "Oh that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness." Psalm 107:8-9
He (God) is the only One who can satisfy our soul. If we take notice of the many blessings in our lives, we will begin to look at life with a different view. As we come to the realization that nothing we have is our own and understand that everything we are entrusted with is His, then maybe we would appreciate all He has entrusted us with.
Thanksgiving is a time to stop and look at life, past, present, and future and reflect on the many treasures we’ve encountered in the past, those we are currently experiencing and those we will soon be blessed with. It is not the only time we should do this however, but unfortunately it is the only day many take the time to do so. Thanksgiving is and should be a daily celebration, not just a once a year feast.
I love what Melody Beattie wrote: “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
If we would realize that the blessings we’ve received, well out number the ones we’ve shared; if we’d agree that our unworthiness does not deserve the many gifts God has bestowed our way, maybe if we appreciate what we have rather than continually grumble about what we don’t , just maybe we’d be a happier generation, a more pleasant world.
Dietrich Bonheoffer is quoted as saying: “In ordinary life we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.”
What a shame. We, being the blessed nation that we are, have become so ungrateful. We fail to see the many joys that are set before us. Rather than looking at our children as blessings, we look on them as burdens. Instead of accepting our job as an opportunity, we see at it as a weight. We dissect our relationships, focusing on the negatives; rather than magnifying the positives. And I could go on and on. It’s sad. Life is not supposed to be this way.
We are a sick nation running from doctor to doctor, hospital to hospital because our stress levels are high and our fears are great. We smile less and cry more. We argue and fight rather than love and share. All because we are a dissatisfied people who refuse to be thankful.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Phil. 4:6
“There is always, always, always something to be thankful for.”-- Author Unknown
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV)
"I will praise God's name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving." Psalm 69:30
The time to count our blessings is not when things are going good, instead; when things are tough. When we learn to focus on the good in life, things change and quite often what changes is us. Not so much the outcome but how we perceive our circumstance.
Willie Nelson got it right when he said: “When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.” "Praise the LORD! Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Psalm 106:1

This is the Day
What a beautiful morning! The weather is cool, crisp and sweet! God is amazing in the way that He, with just a thought or word can bring coolness to our lives. Are you in the heat of trials right now? Are you experienced a blaze of difficulty that cannot be quenched in your own power? Call on the One who is able to calm the sea and open blind eyes with just one whisper, just one touch. Why suffer? Cry out to Him today and allow him to lighten your load.
Rejoice in Suffering
“Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” (Rom 5:3-5, NIV)
This week was rough for me. I guess I had to pay for overdoing it the week before. Monday morning I woke up not feeling like my usual self. My throat was scratchy and I felt a bit achy. I did the usual, said a prayer, took a couple of Tylenols and went about my day; my busy day! I left the house early in hopes to get a few things done before Women’s Bible Study at 9:30AM. Afterwards, I met Jim for lunch then headed for the office. I spent most of the afternoon hunched over the keyboard inputting data in the computer till my shoulders ached. I made it home that evening greeted by the list chores that had to get done, such as preparing dinner, clean-up; laundry, etc. Tuesday morning came too early as far as I was concerned. Another day of achy, tired bones followed by an evening of crash! I couldn’t go any longer. At about 5 my body told me it was time to give it up. Reluctantly, I did and got the much needed rest I’d been missing. Wednesday came and by afternoon I was finally back to normal! Praise God!
All too often we run ourselves ragged that our bodies have no choice but to let us know enough is enough. We go here and there, do this and that on a 100 mile an hour journey to nowhere. I must confess last week was a blast!
I had lots of fun and God blessed me greatly in my journeys, but I know I was too much on the go and therefore payment was due this week.
This was my schedule last week: Monday I did my usual Bible Study, work and evening at home duties: Tuesday was “Girl Talk”, work, and the usual. Wednesday I put in a full day at the office and Thursday I worked a full day as well. That evening I went to the Florida Hospital Gala which included dinner and an amazing performance by Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman. Needless to say we got home quite late. Up again early Friday, at the office till noon and a slew of errands following. First, I stopped by Samaritan’s Touch (which was and amazing testimony), took a couple of tests at SFCC; went grocery shopping, visited the bank and Walgreens, then headed home to make dinner. At six I left for a Southern Living Party at Jodi’s and returned home later than desired. Saturday the same old same old, house cleaning (always an undesirable chore), went to visit mom, prepared for Bible Study, cooked a great dinner, cleaned up and made it to bed by eleven. Rising early Sunday morning; several of my close friends and I headed for Orlando’s “The Gathering Place” church. Darlene Scheck of Hillsongs was the guest speaker and the group was ministering in concert that evening. What a night! We got home past midnight and as usual I was up early the next day eager to begin my weekly routine. No wonder I was worn out! Let’s face it I don’t know how to slow down! Relaxing is not my favorite pass time.
I’ve always been that way. I can’t sit still! So when I felt like I was getting sick, of course I chose to ignore it. Thank God I’m kin to the mighty Healer! The One that with just a word can calm any storm, He makes the lame walk, and the blind see. I am so thankful that He is the very One who gives me breath; the One that heals my sickness and calms my fears. He is the One that gives me the hope and the strength I need to make it through each day, each trial. He is always with me, He’s my closet friend. He is the One who picks me up and sets my feet on solid ground. If I know this, and I do then why do I worry and fret? Why do I fear what the future might bring? Why do I let a day on the couch get me down? If God is for me who can be against me? Why is it so hard to rejoice in my sufferings?
Dear God, I Thank You for all You are doing in my life. Help me to see each day as a blessing, an opportunity to love and serve you more. When I grow weary of doing Lord, thank you for being my strength. Help me Lord to rejoice in my sufferings and to know that you are in control. I love you. Amen.

Please Vote, It's your Right and Duty
I debated whether I should write about the big day coming up next week or not, and I guess I’ll give it a shot. I believe this election is one of the most critical in our recent history. The way we vote or don’t vote, will affect more than we realize. What I have to say to all of you is this: whichever candidate you choose is your right, but please, makes a choice, and do your duty as an American Citizen. Our country depends on it!
The Bible states in Proverbs 8:15-18:
“By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just; by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth. I love those who love me,
and those who seek me find me. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.” NIV
Here, I believe, God is saying that He is the one who appoints the kings and rulers of the earth. He is the One who gives them the wisdom they need, (providing they ask for it). He also is saying that He loves those that love Him and to those, come riches and honor, wealth and prosperity. Does that say anything to you? Could it be possible that everything we are experiencing today stems from the fact that much of the United States, does not love and honor their Creator as they should?
“Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.” Rev 2:4 NIV
We have left our first love (Rev 2). We have taken Him out of our schools, taken Him out of our homes, and yes even taken Him out of our churches and Government! What do we expect? Our energy crisis, our economy and these battles we are fighting, are all a direct result of our sinful lives. We must open our eyes and turn away from wicked ways. We must acknowledge our Creator, bow on our knees with humble hearts and ask forgiveness of our God. But, that just doesn’t seem possible in many of our eyes. The idea is so far-fetched, because of where we are as a country. But I am here to tell you that nothing is impossible with God.
“Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God."
Luke 18:27NIV
“For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37 NIV
Whoever is elected President of the United States for the next four years has his job cut out for him; big time. It will be no easy task.
Therefore, we must daily before the election as well as long after, be on our knees for our country. We must pray for our leaders, pray for our troops, pray for our churches and most importantly, pray for our families. We are in difficult times but that doesn’t mean our lives as we once knew them, are over.
One by one as we pour our hearts out to God, we can change the world. One by one, as we take a stand on the issues that matter most; the ones that test our morality, the ones that will keep our economy going, the ones that put God, family and country first, the ones that will truly make a difference in our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren; one by one as we take our stand; we can make a difference.
I encourage you, I ask, even beg you-make a difference for the better. Before you enter the Polls this Tuesday, ask God for wisdom as to how you should cast your vote. The Bible says that He directs the steps of the righteous and gives wisdom to those who ask for it.
“A man's steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way?” Proverbs 20:24
“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5-6 NIV
Let’s all make a difference. Let’s all vote this November 4th, it’s our right and it’s our duty. May God bless you as you enter the polls, and may God bless our wonderful, America.

Turn Back to What Matters most
Have you ever left an area, school or place of business thinking that you departed on good terms, only to find that isn’t really the case? Have you ever discovered that the friends you thought you had are the very ones that turn on you in your absence? The ones that deny your friendship by blurting lies, are the ones that once in your book, were your closest friends?
Well you are in good company. Even Jesus had to face those facts. On the very night of His final fellowship dinner, His Last Supper, with His disciples, Jesus tells them that one of them will betray Him. Immediately, they question among themselves as to who this will be. They could not believe that either would hurt their best friend and teacher.
Luke 22:31-35
"Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." But he replied, "Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death." Jesus answered, "I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me."
So here Jesus tells Peter that he will deny Him (Jesus) three times before the rooster crows. But Peter doesn’t believe Him. Peter loves Jesus. He could never dream of denying his friend.
“Then seizing Him, they led Him away and took Him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance. But when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat down with them. A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, "This man was with Him." But he denied it. "Woman, I don't know Him," he said. A little later someone else saw him and said, "You also are one of them." "Man, I am not!" Peter replied. About an hour later another asserted, "Certainly this fellow was with Him, for he is a Galilean." Peter replied, "Man, I don't know what you're talking about!" Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed. The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows today, you will disown Me three times." And he went outside and wept bitterly.” Luke 22:54-62 NIV
Obviously, Peter was afraid for his life. Sometimes out of fear people defend themselves, maybe it’s the fear of a relationship falling apart or that they might get into trouble, and in his case even killed. Whatever the reason, denying Christ is never right. Jesus was and still is the best friend we could ever ask for. He loves everyone. Why then was He so hated and mistreated? Because, it was in the plan that God had laid out for His life. He really had no choice. Sometimes, we have no choice in the way our lives turn out or in the way people mistreat us either. We lose friendships and relationships because of some miscommunication or lie that someone shares. Somehow through it all, we go on, and things work out for the best in the long run.
I remember when I was young a certain girl told me a story about my boyfriend. I was to marry this guy (or so I thought) and her comment broke my heart, our friendship, as well as my relationship with him. I never really knew the whole truth but I chose to believe what I’d heard, and the cards were drawn. As I look back, I am thankful how it turned out. If it had been different, I would not have given birth to our beautiful children, and my life would not be where it is today. God had His hand on me, even back then.
God knew also, that Peter, after his mistake, would make a turn around and be one of His greatest witnesses. He had to allow him to go through the agony of his failure to bring him where He wanted Him to be.
Oftentimes in life we must go through agony to get to the place where God ultimately wants us to be as well. When our plans are not in line with His, He makes a way and puts us back on track. If you are going through something and don’t understand why, maybe everything was going good and now a hedge of thorns blocks your path; maybe God is trying change your direction. Maybe He is trying to turn your attention back, to what matters most, Himself.

What Comes to Mind?
When you think of your role as mom, what thoughts come to your mind?
Do you dwell on what you’re not or do you think on what is kind?
When dinner’s burning on the stove and kids are screaming loud
Do you raise your voice in fury or whisper; “Help me Lord?
As you rock at two AM, then at four and six again
Do you mumble under breath or do you coo and smile instead?
As the laundry’s piling up, and the floor’s covered with toys
Are you aware your motherhood calling is filled awesome joys?
Reading books and singing songs and sharing giggles with your child
Are pleasures to enjoy today tomorrow they’ll be gone
You’re a sergeant and a listener, and yes, a referee at times
But remember this is only for a short season in your life
Dishes in the sink, dirty bathrooms, unmade beds
Will all be there tomorrow, why not play with babe instead?
At times it can be frustrating being mom with much to do
You’re everybody’s slave with little extra time for you
It’s your job to clean the house, fold the clothes and tie the shoes
You’re the doctor and the nurse and yes the councilor to boot
While scolding in an effort to train your little child
Mommy don’t forget to hug and share a happy smile
Bathing babies, changing diapers, stacks of bills that must be paid
May be tough but would you really want it any other way?
As you hold your little one up close and snuggle in the night
Take joy dear mom for pretty soon your baby will be grown

He restores sick bodies and broken hearts
He restores our sick bodies and broken hearts
I recently started a new job. You might be thinking, “I thought you just did that 5 months ago?” and I will say, “Yes, you are right.” But I couldn’t pass this opportunity up. As I was looking for a 2nd part-time job I was presented with the offer to work for a good friend of ours; Dr. Keatley Waldron. Obviously, I chose to accept the offer, and here I am.
The past two weeks have been spent learning office procedures such as: how to take care of patients, what we do, and what we stand for. My next step is to proceed in the marketing division. Being a marketer at heart with previous experience in Mary Kay, Real Estate and owning a retail store, I am more than excited about my new adventure. So off I went this week to the wilds of Highlands County. Most of my time was spent learning where the different opportunities exist; and believe me my list is large and growing.
In the world of Chiropractic, at least as far as Waldron Chiropractic is concerned, the rule of thumb is:
“Love” as you would like to be loved,
“Give” as you would like to be given to,
“Serve” as you would like to be served, and
“Do,” as you would like done unto you.
Sort of like the “Golden Rule,” huh? That is what I love; it’s what I stand for, what I believe.
I’ve had the opportunity to meet quite a few people this week; all with similar, but different needs. The best part was getting to share a kind word, a smile and hope with them, something that we at Waldron Chiropractic strives to accomplish.
As Believers in Christ, we are to follow His example, do as He did, and obey His commands. Let’s look at these four acts as they are given in the Bible:
· LOVE – “A new commandment I give you: Love one another as I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34
Love is: brotherly concern for others; unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another.
Jesus loved everyone, even those who despised and hated Him. He never paid a hurt for a hurt. He always turned the other cheek. Every act was embraced in love.
· GIVE - “Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use it, it will be measured to you.”
Luke 6:38
Give according to Webster means: to suffer the loss of; to sacrifice.
Jesus didn’t have to give in order to receive; He had everything in the palm of His hand. He gave all He had even His life for you and for me so we could be free from the chains of sin. He gave freely.
· SERVE - “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Luke 10:45
Serve means: to answer the needs of someone else.
Jesus served over and over while He walked this earth. And before His death He even washed His disciples’ dirty feet. Now that is service.
· DO - “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this, sums up the law of the prophets.” Matthew 7:12
Do is translated: to give freely.
Jesus treated everyone in the manner that He would have liked to have been treated, but instead He was mocked, beaten, and hung to die. He bore on Himself every iniquity, every pain and every disease, all so that we might live happily ever after with Him in Eternity.
Jesus was a prime example of all of these acts. No bad thing comes from Him and that He is incapable of inflicting pain on anyone, rather He restores to health our sick bodies and broken hearts.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
In our present state, we are susceptible to sickness and defeat, heartaches and pain, pressures and defeat but Praise God He made a way of escape for us. But these too shall pass. Praise God, Jesus paid the ultimate price for our space in Gloryland.

A Friend Loves at all times
I met my special friend 30 years ago; if I remember correctly, it was on my 18th birthday and what a blessing she has been to me ever since. This past Wednesday she passed on to be with her Maker, but she will forever be in my heart. Gramma Child has taught me that true friendship never dies. She taught that in life we all make mistakes and we just have to let bygones be bygones. Relationships and people are much more valuable than the pain. Life is full of pains and in order to make it through we must get up and go on.
Isn't she beautiful?
I cannot remember a time when Gramma didn’t love me. She was always happy to see me, always excited when I called. She never failed to open her home and arms to me. She never shut me out and for that I am grateful.
I remember the many coffee breaks with homemade muffins and the New Year’s Eve Oyster Casserole and the many dinners we shared on the “farm” as she called it. I’ll never forget the hobo dance night when she and Grampa dressed up with red noses and old clothes and headed for the dance floor. I can still see them riding their 4-wheeled bicycle; built exclusively for the two of them, because of Grampa’s inability to see.
I will never forget the day we beheaded and de-feathered the dozen roosters, in hopes to have extra food to cook for our growing family. Unfortunately, I could not cook our former pets, so guess who did the honors? Likewise, I will never forget “Hot-Rod Gramma” as she chauffeured me all the way to Arcadia pedal to the medal; while I labored, eager to deliver our little Philip 9who decided he wanted out five and a half weeks early!). And the memories go on and on.
I remember the days at Cactus Lane on the porch while the kids rolled across the floor on the footstools Grampa made. And the many at Sunny Hills as well, with Long Johns (in case you didn’t know, these are chocolate iced donuts filled with Bavarian crème, her favorite) and coffee; I on the little stool, her in her chair, sitting and talking for hours. It was fun witnessing her winning cards at bingo and the pile of candy she won but rarely ate. And I remember sitting in the lobby just watching everyone together, few words spoken. What precious memories.
She, just like Grampa loved to talk about the past. Her favorite stories were ones about the kids. In her mind she could still see Marissa running after Alan down the driveway; with Philip and Clay tagging behind, all the way to her house. And yes, she always mentioned their diapers half hanging down their bottoms and their dirty little hands and feet (we lived on 10 acres at the time and the kids loved to run around and play in the mud, what do you expect?).
One of the last things we talked about when she was in the hospital just two weeks before she passed, while she was still coherent, was the fact that time has flown. I asked her if she realized that we’d known each other 30 years and I will never forget what she said to me. She said: “Yes, that’s a long time.” Then she said, “I’m glad I met you” and I responded; “I am glad too Gramma.” That conversation will ring in my memory forever.
She knew I loved her and I knew she loved me too. Occasionally we’d say it but if we didn’t, we still knew.
Proverbs 17:17 states: “A Friend loveth at all times.” True friends don’t have to do extraordinary things for each other to show how much they care. True friends are there when times get rough. I am thankful that I had the privilege of being with Gramma during her rough times, and just the same that she remained with me during many of mine.
The Word of God tells us that our days are numbered and that there is a season for everything; a time to be born as well as a time to die. It’s funny how God works. This week our friends Heidi and Andrew by God’s sovereign grace, brought their third little girl into the world and carried her home with them; likewise, God decided it was time to carry His little girl Edith Lucina Child, at the young age of 94, home with Him this week, as well.
What a wonderful day it was for both of these little girls.

Great to hear his voice!
Today Clay called us. It has been four weeks since he left for the U.S. Army and it seems like a year. We've received three letters since his departure all saying what a great time he was having and that he missed us greatly. While I knew he was ok I longed to hear his voice.Thank God today the phone rang and it was him! As excited as I was to hear his voice, unfortunately the time went by too quickly and our five minutes was up. That's what happens in Basic Training, short, limited phone calls. Thank God we were home to answer the phone. I guess it's all part of making him (and us)Army Strong! Hopefully we will hear from him again real soon. We love you Clay!!!
God loves to hear our voice as well. When we are feeling lonely or need a friend He is always there, waiting to answer our call. Have you called Him today?

Date nights are wonderful ways to get close

Tonight Jim planned a date night for the two of us. I had been wanting to see the movie "FireProof"and guess where we went? Since the movie was playing in Lake Wales we headed there for dinner and yes, a movie. What a great time we had and what a great movie! I recommend that everyone go see it, married or not. Though it is about never leaving your partner behind, the message is one that must be heard by all.
As Jim and I sat in the movie theatre, I desired to move close and lean on him. We made it a point to move the cup holder from between us so that nothing was in our way. Kindof like snuggling in a clean sortof way. As I moved closer to Jim, Jim moved closer to me making sure that nothing came between us. I liked that.
James 4:8 reads: "Come close to God and He will come close to you."
Just as Jim and I made special time for each other concentrating on becoming close; God desires we take time for Him and make every effort to move closer to Him as well. He desires to be so close to us, that nothing gets in between causing our relationship to faulter. He desires to know all about our day and the things we are going through. He longs to be a part of our deepest thoughts.
Is that too much for a Creator to ask of His creation? Why then do we find such difficulty doing so? Why do we regard God as someone out there in the distance whom we cannot really connect with? That is farther than the truth. Scritpure says in Proverbs 18:24 that Jesus sticks closer to us than our own brother! Now that's pretty close.
Is there something in between you and your Savior? Something that has come between the two of you? Why not get rid ot that thing and draw close to the One who loves your soul? As you draw close to Him watch just how close He draws to you!

A New Way to Look at a Deck of Cards
I got this from a friend the other day and thought I'd pass it on. Enjoy!
A New way to look at a Deck of Cards.
It was quiet that day, the guns and the mortars, and land mines for some reason hadn’t been heard.
The young soldier knew it was Sunday, the holiest day of the week.
As he was sitting there, he found an old deck of cards and laid them out across his bunk.
Just then an army sergeant came in and said, ‘Why aren’t you with the rest of the platoon?’
The soldier replied, ‘I thought I would stay behind and spend some time with the Lord.’
The sergeant said, ‘Looks to me like you’re going to play cards.’
The soldier said, ‘No sir. I’ve decided to talk to the Lord by studying this deck of cards.’
The sergeant asked in disbelief, ‘How will you do that?’
‘You see the Ace, Sergeant? It reminds me that there is only one God.
The Two represents the two parts of the Bible, The Old and New Testaments.
The Three represents the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Four stands for the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
The Five is for the five virgins, there were ten but only five of them were prepared.
The Six is for the six days it took God to create the Heavens and the Earth.
The Seven is for on the seventh day God rested after making His Creation.
The Eights is for the family of Noah: Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives—the eight people God spared from the flood that destroyed the earth.
The Nine is for the nine ungrateful lepers that Jesus cleansed of leprosy, He cleansed ten but only one thanked Him.
The Ten represents the Ten Commandments that God handed down to Moses on tablets made of stone.
The Jack is a reminder of Satan, one of God’s first angels. He got kicked out of Heaven for his sly, wicked ways and now is the Joker of eternal Hell.
The Queen stands for the Virgin Mary, Jesus’ mother.
The King stands for Jesus, for He is the King of all kings!
When I count the Dots on all the cards, I come up with 365 total; one for every day of the year.
The four Suits represent the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.
Each Suit has thirteen cards—there are exactly 13 weeks in a quarter.
So, when I talk to God and thank Him, I just pull out this old deck of cards and they remind me of all I have to be thankful for.
The sergeant just stood there. After a minute with tears in his eyes and pain in his heart, he said, ‘Soldier, can I borrow the deck of cards?’
*Please let this be a reminder and take time to pray for all of our soldiers who are being sent away, putting their lives on the line; fighting for our freedom! Of all the gifts you could give a Soldier, prayer is the most important!
Prayer for the Military
“Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them. Bless them and their families.
I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen”
God Bless America, and God Bless Our Troops!

Worrying is for worry warts
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
NIV1 Peter 5:6-7
What is anxiety? Anxiety is nervousness, worry, concern, unease, fretfulness, and fear. Are you a worry wart? Do you find yourself fretting over things that you have no control over? What is going on in your life that has you filled with fear?
God’s Word tells us that we are not to worry about anything.
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matt 6:25-34 NIV)
Easier said than done, I can vouch for that. I am definitely my dad’s daughter. I believe I acquired most of his mother’s genes. I remember as a young girl my grandmother always worrying about everything. She loved her three sons (and their families) so much. She always made sure we had enough to eat and were safe. She watched us like a hawk (but in a good way). When we left to go home, she worried, when we played outside she worried that we’d get hurt, and on and on. Gramma made so much food on Sunday afternoon, we always had leftovers. Now I’m not bad mouthing my grandmother. I loved her just the way she was. In fact, she still inspires me today!
Lately as I am growing older, I catch myself worrying a bit too much. I worry about our children and whether or not they have enough to eat and money to live on. I am concerned whether or not our youngest will make it safely through four years of service in the United States Army. I worry that Gramma Child is comfortable in her sickness and that her time to go home is near. I sometimes fear that my mother’s heart is no longer strong enough to carry her through. And the list goes on and on.
I am a strong believer and I know that God is in control of every area of our lives. I know that He has my best interest in mind because I am His girl. I am certain that nothing will happen to our children that won’t pass through His hands first; because they belong to Him. I know as I give every concern and care I face to Him, He cares for me. It’s black and white. I am so thankful that when my weak side begins to raise its head, He becomes my strength. He is able to lift me out of every difficult circumstance, every struggle and remove every fear. That is why I call Him my Savior! He is the only One who is able to save me from the fiery furnaces of life. I lean on Him, I call on His Name, and I trust Him, with every trial and every struggle.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4 NIV)
I may not always like every situation I am going through, cause quite often they are not very joyful, but I know that as He continues His good work in me, I no longer have to live the life of a worry wart!

Live as Though You are Dying
Today I learned of the deaths of 3 people who I considered my friends. The first was Carol, the second Donna and the third Chuck. It seems no matter which way we turn lately, someone is leaving. Some we know are headed to a far better place, others we wonder. It's not for us to judge, but it certainly causes us to take a good look at our own lives.
I am a firm believer that now more than ever, we must take time with each other and do the things that are most important. All too quickly our biological clocks can stop ticking and our time on earth through. We must make the best of every moment.
I'm not afraid of dying, I'm just not ready to go yet. I want to see my grandchildren. I would like to grow old with my husband.
As I spent last week in the hospital with Gramma, I was reminded just how fragile life is. Likewise, that the Bible says our days are numbered and our time is set. It's inevitable, we are all going to die; we just don't know when. The truth is we are like a vapor, here today, and gone tomorrow.
Why not live life to the fullest? Why not live as though you are dying?

He Will Give You the Desires of Your Heart
I am an awful typist. I have no idea how many words I can type per minute because I am unable to take a typing test. I freak out whenever I attempt one, and as a result, make tons of mistakes. I have been practicing, by typing the Lord’s Prayer over and over. I know the prayer by heart but still am unable to type it without errors.
I remember vividly my typing class in high school. It had to have been one of my worst subjects, yet I love to write. I never could get it right even back then. I often think of writing by hand but if you saw my penmanship you’d understand clearly why I don’t. If C-‘s and D’s explain anything, those were my penmanship grades all throughout elementary school!
Then why do you suppose God gave me the desire to write? I have no idea, but lovingly I accept the challenge! It is my passion. Ever since I was a young woman, my desire was to be an author. As a teen I spent classroom study time with pen in hand. And to say the least, my writings were not focused on the subject of the hour. Mostly, I wrote my feelings on paper. I wrote of what interested me: poetry, love stories, and the like. I wrote of teenage hurts, and growing pains. Unfortunately, they somehow got lost when I moved from my childhood home.
When God wrote my story; He never lost a single page. He wrote it on His heart and daily He’s fulfilling the plan He specifically laid out for me.
In Psalm 139 beginning in verse 13 David speaks:
“For you created me in my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them. Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.” (NIV verses 13-18)
I love Psalm 139, every part of it. This poem speaks of the fact that God searches our deepest part, our heart. He knows every thought, every desire, and every care. He knows more about us than we know about ourselves. The fact that he knit me in my mother’s womb is amazing to me! He knows all there is to know about me. He knew before I was even thought of that I would love to write (but hate to type). And He knew I would desire to be a mother more than anything else (and He blessed me with four beautiful children). He knew that I would love Him and His Word; and I am so grateful He created me this way. He’s given me more opportunities to serve Him through writing than I ever dreamt possible.
Without Him, I am inadequate; I can do nothing on my own.
Without Him, I am fragile; able to break at any moment.
Without Him I am alone; no true friends in sight.
With Him I lack nothing; He is more than enough.
With Him I am strong; He overcomes my weaknesses.
With Him I have a friend; He’s my number one “Best Friend”.
And His promise is: He will never leave me alone.
I acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior, and Son of the Most High God. I believe He died for my sins, and He has risen from that death. I am certain He is alive, and sitting on God’s Throne. For these reasons I am privileged to be called His daughter, His child. My name is written in His great book of life, never to be blotted out.
I have been made in His image; I am a reflection of Him. I do what He does and say what He says. And just like He, I am a writer. Just as He desired to write my story, my desire is to write about Him.
Praise God, His Word says in Psalm 37 verse 4: “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” NIV
I delight in Him. I love him. My heart’s desire is to tell the world of His great love.
What is your heart’s desire? Delight yourself in Him and watch Him do what he does best.

Piercing on Duty 24/7
As i was digging through my desk drawer today I ran across a column that I wrote several months ago and decided to post it on my blog. I hope you enjoy it.
“But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities, the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him and by His scourging, we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5 NASB)
The other day as I was driving on Highway 27, I saw a sign that read, “Piercing on duty.” As I do with most everything I see or read I began to analyze it in order to learn what exactly the advertiser was trying to say. It was quite obvious that the maker of the sign had one goal in mind and that was to take home some cash that day. No doubt this Pierce Artist was trying to drum up business for himself. Hopefully it worked and his piggy bank now runneth over.
Growing up, in my home piercing was not an option, at least not until we were high school age. Even though we had a house full of girls my parents did not believe in the act. In fact I, in the secret of my bedroom, pierced my own ears at the ripe age of 17 and just in time for Senior Prom. When my mom found out I pierced my own ears, she wanted hers done also. Doing my own wasn’t so bad but piercing my mom’s was like major surgery, I was scared! I did what I did before, ice, needle, push and ahh, they were beautiful!
Nowadays, as soon as a little girl exits the womb it seems, someone’s putting a gun to her ears. Maybe the reasoning is so people can tell her gender; kind of like taping little pink bows on your daughter’s head if she is lacking in the hair department. But things are different today. Both genders are wearing stones in both ears, that’s just the way it is. And you don’t have to look too hard to find piercing in places that back in some of our days would be unheard of. I guess we live in a free country and people need to express themselves, to each his own. In one way or another we all get our ideas and passions out. Praise God I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to put mine on paper.
When I think of piercing, one thing comes to mind and that is the greatest of all piercing. The day my Savior, Jesus Christ took the nails for me and for you was the greatest moment of all. That day many years ago, Jesus paid the ultimate price for our freedom. He surrendered His will, took on the form of a criminal and was crucified to death so we could be set free. Every sin we’ve ever committed as well as those to come, are wiped clean because of His willingness to die; providing we accept the gift. And, to top it all, on the third day after His death He was resurrected to the Heavens where He sits today pleading to God the Father on our behalf.
Why did He do it? He didn’t have to. He could have stopped it all. He had the power to put an end to the whole thing. But He didn’t. He didn’t because He had you and me in mind. He knew we were coming, He knew were sinners and would need a Savior. He chose us before we were born. He knew how messed up we would be. He knew in the midst of our distress, we would turn to Him. When we couldn’t handle life any more, when our baggage was too great to bear, He knew. He knew exactly what it would take and in confidence He patiently waited. Aren’t you glad? I am.
For twenty-three years now I’ve been a Christian. I surrendered desperately, back then, pleading His forgiveness. I was a mess. My life was in shambles. I was insecure and searching. Searching for at the time only God knew what. All it took was one look. One look in the eyes of my loving Savior and I became a free woman. The roads I’ve traveled since then haven’t all been smooth and I’ve encountered an avalanche or two along the way, but when I look over these past years I know without a doubt, my steps have been ordered by the Lord.
Gratefully, I take each one knowing that without Him I cannot and will not be the woman He has called me to be. Without the love of the One whose hands and feet were pierced for my sins, without the One who spent hours hanging on a tree, without His resurrected body, I’d have no hope. We’d have no hope.
So, if we want to talk about piercing on duty, let’s talk about Jesus. He’s on duty 24/7 and His piercing lasts through eternity. Why not stop in and see his beautiful work for yourself.

My Forever Friend
At 94 years old Gramma has had her share of sick bouts. This week she landed in the hospital for three days; but thankfully she is okay and back home again.
She is beautiful to me all 85 pounds of her. I love to sit and converse about old times and what once was. I love reminiscing about our life on the farm, as we call it. I remember the many coffee breaks, and dinners. I remember the time she taxied me to the hospital when I was in labor with Phil. I remember her always being there for us when we needed her. I have been truly blessed to have known her for the past 30 years and would be even more blessed to know her another 30. Sometimes I worry that she doesn't have much time left. I try to spend every moment possible with her, but with a busy schedule it's hard. The best I can do is cherish every moment and make each one special for her. I love to hear her laugh and talk of "the best times of her life" as she puts it. I thank God He brought her into my life many years ago. I thank Him also that He has allowed her to remain my friend, even though the ties that brought us together have been severed.
"A friend loveth at all times." Proverbs 17:17
Truly gramma has proven that she's my forever friend!

See You at the Pole
Wednesday morning (yesterday) was "National Prayer at the Pole Day" and I was privileged to attend, at Sebring High School. What an awesome experience. There were at least 100+ students and teachers gathered around the pole; worshipping in prayer to God. With reverence the band honored their King as they played instruments and sang songs and no doubt the by-standers got a glimpse of what it means to love an amazing God. It was a breath of fresh air to watch these youth engage in love to their Savior; as peers watched with eyes wide open. It's living proof that there are groups of young adults, who are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Several of these students performed a skit showing how SIN, when allowed to enter a life can take that life over but just as important they showed how, with God, it every sin can be overcome.
"No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it." NISB
